Any photographer that has the honor of photographing one of their closest friend’s wedding knows the emotional side of the coin. While your working hard and doing what you do as an artist, you’re also emotionally driven to not burst out in tears every five minutes. I think I lost it like three times during their ceremony.  Seeing your friend be loved so deeply, so intensely, so fully is extremely impacting and glorious. I was in awe, watching the beauty and the faithfulness of the Lord to take two people from different continents and bring them together.

Ashley and I have been friends probably since Ashley was four. I grew up with her, her family and some of her friends. We did crazy things as kids, and we still do crazy things as adults. And Scott I’ve known only for a year. (I wrote more about their story here, on their engagement session post) I love, love, love the way Scott loves Ashley. His gentleness reminds me of the way my husband loves me.

When Scott saw Ashley coming down the aisle, it was freaking amazing watching the little boy come out of him. Exuberance and heart-felt joy painted his face and took over his body. Both of them were  so giddy. Ashley looked completely stunning in a champagne Justin Alexander. Her Hawaiian sun-kissed skin and black hair caused her deep brown eyes to sparkle.

Scott and Ashley got married on a friend’s beautiful property on June 1st. They offered hay rides down through the woods to an open field where the ceremony took place. The reception took place in a large garage which they decorated with a travel/international theme.

As I was editing the portrait photos this week, I announced to my husband that I wish I could document their lives and photograph them every day because they are so gorgeous to photograph and are so in love. They are eye candy.

They ended the evening with heart-shaped Chinese lanterns, sparklers and a send off in a gorgeous mint green car. These two are some of my favorite people, and I’m honored to have stood alongside them on their day.

Special thanks to my second shooter, Kori Hoffman, and my third shooter, my husband. (Yes, I had so many images to go through…it was rough to pick the best.)

Congrats Scott and Ashley! I love you guys so, so, so much!  Thank you for everything!

I’ve known Ashley for twelve and half years. Our family visited the Hamptons, and we became close friends with the Webb family. In fact, we do consider them family. Ashley and I have spent a lot of time in the past together. In more recent years, Ashley has lived in Kansas City with her sister, and our lives have been crazy busy. I love the holidays because it brings her and her sisters home to visit their parents.

Our family used to go to the Hamptons to visit a couple times a year. Ashley and I went on mission trips together, we were involved in the same internships and school together for quite a while. Ashley and her sister, Molly, were in my wedding. We have lived together in certain seasons. We have a lot of mutual friends. I love this girl so much. Thank God, her parents moved to the Carolinas a few years ago–I get my “Webb” fix every other week or so. <3

I can’t describe how incredibly happy I am for Ashley and Luke. Luke is one of thirteen kids, and his family was glorious to photograph. Honestly, the Roberts family was literally everywhere throughout the day. I loved it.

A few times during this wedding, I had to step back and detach from my work to see one of my dearest friends whom I’ve prayed for, cheered on, and had so many beautiful moments with, radiate and glow as she walked down the aisle to meet her groom. A couple times I wept. (Thankfully, the camera conveniently hid my tears.)

Ashley decided to get married in her home town in Long Island, NY, in the Hamptons at St. Thomas Chapel. Her reception took place in the back yard of her great Aunt’s house, built around 100 years ago. So incredible. Brandon, Laef and I flew in to document this day. My parents were there as well, and they took care of my baby. (I’ll be doing a personal blog on my trip in the coming weeks, so check it out later.)

If you haven’t ever been to the Hamptons… well… let me just say… wow! I spent so much time in my teen years there and I haven’t been back in around seven or eight years. It’s so incredibly lovely. Everywhere you look there’s eye candy. I just had freak out moments every now and then as we drove around the villages–the beaches, the PIZZA, and the company!

Our time there was absolutely perfect. Brandon, Laef and I stayed in a gorgeous home with a sweet couple. It was Laef’s first trip anywhere, and what better place is there than the Hamptons?

The day started at Ashley’s Grandparents house, and then over to the small cottage behind the church (where Ashley and Luke now live). My husband drove out to Montauk (on the tip of the island) where Luke and his groomsmen were staying.

Side Note: There were almost thirty people in the bridal party. (Crazy amazing!)

Ashley’s Dress is by Ian Stuart. Its the “Premiere”. She bought it at the bridal salon that I used to work at in Kansas City, KS (Bridal Extraordinaire.)

The flowers were done by The Stem, a business that Ashley’s sister, Molly, owns. So beautiful!

A special thanks to my incredible husband for second shooting. I love you, babe.

I’ve decided to do part one and part two of this wedding, just because there are so many beautiful images from their day

Congrats, Luke and Ashley! I sure love you both!

Enjoy! ;D

Perfect October fall day. Color everywhere. Blue skies, slight breeze…. mmmm…. Matthew and Lauren were so blessed to have the most perfect day for their wedding.

I can’t tell you all how excited I have been about this wedding. Lauren and I have become friends the last year in a half.  Shooting her day and being around her family felt like family. (See their E-session here)

Through this whole process Matthew and Lauren have not only been amazing clients but great friends to my husband and I (I love that story!)

Sooo…. their ceremony took place at Central Church of God here in Charlotte, NC. And their reception was at the beautiful Anne Springs Close Greenway at the red barn on a hill. Lauren’s mom decorated the barn with a truck load of of eclectic, vintage antiques. Mason jars personalized with everyone’s name on it. Every table was different and unique. I felt like I was photographing a magazine wedding. The barn was so gorgeous! I loooove shooting details, and what I have here on my blog is the smallest taste of how many details their really were. Gosh! It was heaven.

Another highlight for me on this day was shooting romantic photos of Matthew and Lauren in tall gold grass, and them in the sunset. I felt like flying. They are so easy to photograph.   So yes, I’m excited about sharing this wedding with you.

Enough of me rambling…
