April was a rainy month, and it was true that the April rain brings May flowers. It was also a bit chilly for the month of April. Which is extremely odd for the Carolina’s.
Stephanie and Peter had plans to do their ceremony and reception in the Wyche Pavillion in Greenville, SC. But rain and cold air changed the plans of the day. Larkin’s On The River was a lovely, rustic like restaurant where the ceremony and reception took place. We made the very most of the day and did a few portraits and late night creative idea’s in the Wyche Pavillion right next door. We started at the Hyatt hotel a few blocks from Larkin’s and walked to Larkin’s from there in the rain.
I think rain makes you work harder at your art, and that’s what my husband and I did. We explored and tried new things, and they turned out fabulous! My husband is now my main second shooter for most of my weddings, he continues to surprise me and inspire me to go higher and be creative. I’m very thankful and happy to have him at my side all day long.
Stephanie and Peter’s day turned out so lovely and I’m so glad we got to be there to capture the emotion that took place! In spite of rain and cold…it was beautiful!
Congrats Stephanie & Peter! Thank you for letting Brandon and I shoot your day!

My husband and I started attending Renovatus back in summer of 2011. We had been out of church for a long period of time, and when we attended Renovatus off and on, I would cry through the services. Our Pastor, Jonathan Martin is a brilliant, anointed speaker and preacher. I love hearing the man talk about his walk with the Lord. Our family has finally started going more consistently and even started attending a home group through the church. I recently volunteered to help photograph baptism Sunday a few weeks ago. It was a beautiful time of worship and extremely emotional watching and hearing people’s testimonies. Here are a few favorites from that time. If you are ever in the Charlotte area, please stop in and experience a Renovatus service. Also my pastor’s book just came out, check out the promo for it here.
Brisk, lovely fall evening at Freedom Park about a month ago. Kim and Ryan are getting married next summer! He is in the army and plays in the armies band and she is a band teacher in a school. Kim and I used to go to church together about 10 years ago. Its crazy how time flies. I’m excited for these two!
Enjoy! ;D

Stephanie & Peter are getting married next Spring. I’m super excited to shoot their big day! We recently went to Heist Brewery in Noda of Charlotte to shoot some engagement photos. We then walked through some of the Noda area to hit up a skyline of the Queen City. They also wanted to share their love for books… so on to the Peddler’s Post. We then ended up at their home to shoot some photos with their sweet furry friends.
Enjoy! ;D

Rebecca and Jesse were our neighbors for years and years. We had the best snowball fights in the winter, pumpkin carving in the fall, fireworks in the summer and hiking in the spring. Late nights spent doing pranks on our other neighbors, taking long walks around our neighborhood and laughing for hours. We love the Graston’s. Last year they moved a little ways away, to a beautiful farm. They had their first baby and we still miss them living a few doors down. Every now and then we go out to “Grastonia”… shoot guns, go four wheeling, badminton, bbq, and swing on the hammock listening to the peacefulness of farm life.
Their beautiful boy, David turned one this month. I took some photos of this fabulous day! Enjoy! ;D
Happy Birthday David!

I have been dying to share this with the world!!! FINALLY!
Sharon is my closest friend. I feel like we have probably spent two or three years on the phone together if you add up our conversations. Living six hours away isn’t horrible, but she used to be my neighbor, seriously like seven doors down. (We actually weren’t really friend back then… long story) Sharon and her husband, Ferrill are youth pastors in Florida. They have always felt strongly about adopting and have finally come to the place where all the stones are falling into place.
They began and completed their paperwork (35 pages, background checks, doctors appointments and interviews). They were told that the next phase of adoption usually takes about four months. They were stunned when they received a phone call four days later from the agency. The agency had a few moms who were wanting to see their profile and they needed to get it in immediately. (Ferrill and Sharon are one of a few couples that put no limitations on race or gender) Their home study is complete and they are waiting to be matched. They are currently raising funds to bring home a baby.
They are adopting out of Jacksonville, FL. The agency is certain that they can place a baby in their home by the end of the year. Ferrill and Sharon need $25,000 to get a beautiful baby. And half of it is due immediately when they are matched.
Yes, I guess I am going to throw this shout out… maybe to the wind but maybe not. If any of you read this and want to help out…. hey… its worth a shot.
I am so excited for my friends! Being a parent is an incredible gift!
They stopped in for a few days at the beginning of August to spend some time with our new baby. I did a small photo shoot for them to help out with putting together their profile. I litterly took fifteen minutes behind my house and shot some photos of them. I love this couple so much. And I’m overjoyed at the beauty that they are taking on.

I’ve had the opportunity to photograph and meet up with Drew and Elizabeth Anne quite a bit the last eight months, and it’s been such a joy to work alongside them. Getting to hear their desires and their stories about what would make their wedding day special has been super sweet. I did their engagement session (here), and I tell more about their story on that blog post.
Elizabeth Anne’s mom and dad got married at the First United Methodist Church in Gastonia, NC so long ago, and since Elizabeth Anne’s mom had passed away, it was a very special place for her to marry her lover.
Their reception took place on the top floor of the Charlotte City Club in Uptown Charlotte, NC–an overwhelming, beautiful view to enjoy while celebrating!
They are truly a beautiful, genuine, brilliant couple. And I have really loved having them as clients and friends. I’m simply so happy for them!
There was a little bit of a challenge (which didn’t stop me) in the fact that I was 34 weeks pregnant and shooting my last and final wedding before taking a break. I had my husband there to assist me and shoot along with me. (He took good care of me!) My friend and amazing photographer, Kori Hoffman, was my second shooter. She really covered me, and I don’t know what I would have done without her beautiful images to add to this collection.
Also take a peek if you haven’t already at Elizabeth Anne’s bridal portrait session from back in March, which I photographed in a blooming peach orchard in South Carolina. (here)
Enjoy!! ;D
This past weekend was an incredibly crazy time for Brandon and me. On Saturday, I (with two second shooters help) shot a beautiful wedding (which I can’t wait to blog!) at just about 34 weeks pregnant. (Shy one day)
My husband snapped this photo of me below. For a brief moment I had to flip off the shoes…
